From the time I was a little girl growing up in North Jerz, giving my Barbie Dolls buzz cut makeovers, I always knew I wanted to do hair. It was a long road to get here and on the way I did everything from dancing and acting professionally to waitressing in a country club to writing spa and restaurant reviews for an online magazine. But through all that I was always pulled back into the beauty world. In between jobs I’d find myself doing hair and makeup for friends’ weddings or headshots and eventually I decided to enroll in beauty school and give it a real go. I donned that white beauty school uniform, boarded the train with my two creepy mannequin heads and never looked back.
Nine years later I’m working at the Whittemore House Salon in Manhattan as a senior colorist. I still dance in my kitchen, write daily and attempt to make that perfect mix tape.
